Having much wider, thicker and shorter boards these days creates a problem when the surf gets good, I have many customers desiring a board that is possible to feel comfortable with when its on! With more than 20 years of developing shorter, wide nose, low entry travel boards, I feel like this is one of the best yet. The Strike Mission features a modest, overall rocker that is "pulled back" so that the entry is low, fast and calculated. The tail rocker has the curve and release of a high performance step up for tight radius whip and control. The rail line creates a shallow concave under and between feet to add lift and freedom, to keep things catch free, forgiving, settled and precise. There's a slight double concave cutting through the tail rocker which adds lift and speed in smaller waves, as well as drive in larger ones.
The outline, with its noticeably wider than the average nose (and a pulled in round tail) is semi-elliptical and continuously curving, lending a feeling of comfort underfoot. Combined with the low entry rocker, this outline enables the board to be ridden quite short. The tail is pulled in "late", but still features enough surface area in the fin area, under the rear foot, to be surfed fast and radical in everyday waves, while the narrow tail tip holds in solid surf and tube riding when asked. Ridden as a Thruster everyday and Quad when it gets serious your next Strike Mission is covered
Surfboard Shaper - Dave Verrall
Dave Verrall has been passionately shaping boards for over 25 years. He strongly believes the key to a good board is a careful combination of quality materials and features to give correct balance, speed and control for an individual. He thrives on the challenge of making each individual board right for the customer and using new technologies to make old school things.
"I have always used my wits to challenge what I do everyday.. Trying to make it better, starting with a Vision, to Creation then Application. Designing surfboards aligns with my personality and I love the challenge of refining and sharing surfing experiences. 30 years of doing this has some amazing results that you can all benefit from, the current models I produce are the results of this refinement and feedback. Having lived both on the Gold Coast and Bali the range of waves I personally experience along with the worldwide team/customer base gives a confidence of reliable solid performing products."
Our new range of E.P.S boards are made with only the highest quality materials. The foam blanks used are a new technology. A super high density foam that is injection moulded. This foam is ultra flexi with a tight cell structure giving greater strength. We add a 5mm P.V.C (plastic) stringer to achieve just the right amount of flex and strength. The boards are glassed with EPOXY resin with 1x4 ounce glass top and bottom with an added layer of 6 ounce glass patch on the deck this makes the boards ultra light and super strong. Although these boards are super strong they are not unbreakable. All boards have been quality controlled by Japanese shaper Yuki Sudo.
Yuik Sudo has been Hand crafting surfboards for over 40 years. He learned to shape from Bill Van Field in Hawaii in the late 70's and has now shaped over 40, 000 boards. His attention to detail and constant evolution of cutting edge EPS technology and materials has him at the forefront of the industry.
E.P.S Surfboards are generally lighter weight and stronger than a poly urethane surfboard. They have a more buoyant feel and will sit a little higher on the water. This equates to more paddle power getting up to planing speed faster, this can make a big difference when trying to get through flatter sections. Small or clean conditions is where an E.P.S surfboard will really shine. To fix E.P.S you can only use EPOXY resin.
