SURFBOARD SHAPER - JASON FLANAGAN
Born on the Mid North Coast of NSW Australia Flanagan’s ocean career kicked in at a very young age via his dad Patrick Flanagan - a major influence in the local surfing community at Crescent Head through the 70’s – the golden age of surfing. Dad was an owner of the iconic surf shop - Down To Earth. And by default Flanagan Junior’s life was all about hanging with the best surfers and shapers of that era. He played in surfboard factories and consumed beach life from sunrise to sunset. Infectious.
Flanagan’s shaping career evolved from thousands of hard earned waves on the point, countless trips around the globe, while studying the finer art of surfboard performance and what it takes to make a board magic. By living immersed in highly competitive zones such as Burleigh Heads, Lennox Head, Sydney's Northern and Southern beach's, and the South West of France, Flanagan climbed the ladder to stand tall among Australia’s most respected board designers and shapers. His Brand - Flanagan Surfboards – has been chosen by Legends (Tom Curren), WSL professionals (Michel Bourez, Adam Melling, Owen Wright and more), Big Wave and Free surfers (Anthony Walsh, Indar Unane) and a long list of National champs, Grommets and Pleasure seekers from Australasia to the USA to Europe and though Asia.
Flanagan is a clients man, thriving on customization – always with progression in mind, be it beginners or Pro’s. He designs boards for varied conditions - personalized to enhance a surfers needs. And, on any given day, watch him in the line up – cracking one, and smiling like a frothing grommet. Infectious. Yeeeeowwzum. Dani Kiwi Meir ( CEO and founder of Mana Media )
