Jake Thompson was born 13/3/95 and grew up surfing the wave rich region of Avoca Beach where his love for the ocean grew. Jake joined Avoca board riders at age 6 where he enjoyed surfing with mates and developed his passion for traveling and competitive surfing. After a family trip to Bali and G land at age 13 he fell in love with the perfect waves of Indo, determined to see, surf and learn more about the culture he was soon surfing Mentawai. At age 15 he landed a gig on the Nus Dewata as a trainee surf guide. Since then Jake has earned a solid reputation as a surf guide for his knowledge of waves and conditions in this region.
Surfing perfect waves every day combined with his competition background Jake has developed a raw natural talent of power, style and explosive air manoeuvres and manages to thread his way through some of the best barrels Indo has to offer. He currently resides at Palm Beach, Gold Coast and is a Team Rider for Sideways Surf where he currently works.
