The Flanagan SXE has been around for a while. Over the past year Flano has refined it by adding and subtracting variables in design, that has given it a totally new lease of life and attributed to it becoming the “go to” high performance short board for team riders at this moment.
It has a single to double concave blending into a fairly profound Vee off the tail. The Vee starting just in front of the back foot makes for a curvy rail line which marries very well with the lowish tail rocker. The outline is a little wider throughout and the board, in a stock setting, should be ridden the same height as the rider or a little longer. The SXE pivots off the tail very well and is very sharp through turns in the pocket. The extra width in outline helps carry through weaker sections of the wave without hindering fast rail to rail transitions.
This board is a great all-rounder and will perform well in most waves up to around 5 feet. Put through the test this past year in a variety of beach, reef and point breaks around the globe, the SXE has become one of our most popular modern high performance short boards to date.

The ideal volume of your board is generated based on your weight, ability, fitness level, experience and age. For example, older surfers and beginners tend to choose something with a higher volume, as this equates to more paddle power. The below chart will help you choose how much volume (Litres) you will want in your new surfboard.
