Just like a short board
"Back in my day 6’5” was a short board now it’s called a mid length and volume is the new rule of measure! Frustrating! But because I’m not getting any younger but still want to lay down a few solid turns I tried a few different versions of mid length from twin pin channel bottoms to “respectable high performance’ brands only to find they lack the performance aspect. Still searching for the holy grail I dropped into my local sideways to check out the Hp mid from Nigel Annesley. It’s a sexy plan shape which drew me in immediately and I was told by Dan (surfboard guru) at sideways that he has never had so much positive feedback about a single board so convinced I was on a winner I bought myself a 6’6” EPS HP mid (I’m about 87kg and 60 years old). I have had only 2 surfs on it in 2-4 ft clean and side shore conditions and am stoked with how it went. It surfs like the short boards I grew up with but paddles like a dream. Finally a true performance mid length my MOJO is back! Downside: EPS is a little harder to duck dive but I reckon I’ll cope. If you’re intermediate or above and looking for any edge you can get to keep the spark alive I highly recommend the HP mid."
