Frequently Asked Questions
How to Choose the Right Wetsuit?
Choosing the right wetsuit depends on several factors, including water temperature and fit. Check the water temperature of where you will be surfing and this will determine the thickness of the wetsuit you need. As a general rule, the colder the water, the thicker the wetsuit should be. Also a wetsuit should fit snug, like a second skin but not so tight that your range of motion is limited.
How to wash a wetsuit?
No need to wash it in any soap or detergent. The best way to prolong your wetsuit's life is by rinsing it every time after each use. So, once you take it off, it's important that you remove as much sand and salt water as possible before hanging it up to air dry.
What type of wetsuit do I need for surfing?
There are three main types of wetsuits, each designed for specific water temperatures and activities. A steamer wetsuit covers the entire body, from neck to ankle, and comes in different thicknesses, ranging from 2mm to 7mm. A short wetsuit, also known as a spring suit, covers mainly the torso, sometimes exposing the legs or arms. Lastly, rash guards - although these are not technically wetsuits, they do provide some of the same benefits. Rash guards are lightweight, breathable shirts made of spandex or nylon. They offer protection against sunburn, abrasions, jellyfish stings, and are perfect for surfing.
