Benny Williams is a Gold Coast north shore local, and has been surfing around the Gold Coast for over 3 decades. Keeping Straddie as his local port of call, anyone who has been to Straddie on a pumping swell would know his face all too well.

Benny has a love for the old school and will often be seen riding one of his many single fins or longboards he has collected over the years.  Benny has now joined forces with master shaper Phil Myers of Free Flight Surfboards. Both surfer and craftsman share an appreciation for classic 70’s shapes and designs, along with modern channel bottoms, edge boards and hybrid retros. 

High speed soul lines, swooping bottom turns and a love for the green room - Benny and Phil’s collaboration is set to see designs from the yesteryear kept current, so you too can ride the resurgence of cool! Benny regularly tests Phil’s creations in the proving grounds of Hawaii, the long lines of the Indian Ocean and the sand bottom tubes of the Gold Coast.  Winning multiple longboard contests over the years, Benny is now set to push Free Flights Longboard and Retro division to the next level.

Benny has been surfing since he was eight years old, and was taught by his father, who relocated to Australia from Wales. His favourite surf spots include Indo and Oahu.
